While we here at the North Carolina Professional Association of Nannies always recommend an expert payroll processor, because there are fewer mistakes that way, we also know that some employers want to do it themselves and save the fee associated with hiring a payroll processor.
Firstly, we recommend that you note that an employer’s budget is so tight that they cannot afford a spare $1000 over the course of the year. Consider how this will affect your own pay or chance of a bonus.
Secondly, as part of your supporting membership, we do have a very comprehensive step-by-step guide to provide to an employer that walks them through setting up your legal pay.
You’ll notice that in order to download this document, you will need to be part of the Members Only Facebook Group which contains our documents. As a supporting member, you will have access to the group so long as you request membership. If you do not have a Facebook account, send an email to general@ncpan.org and one of the leadership team will reply with the document.
As a side note, you can find a payroll processor which is an expert at handling nanny payroll over at Fair and Legal Pay. All the payroll processors who have taken the Fair and Legal Pay pledge are aware of the unique challenges of nanny payroll.
