Children’s Mental Health Week 2022

Monday and Friday: Growth Stories

Most nannies work a typical Monday-to-Friday schedule. If you do not, we encourage you to put the first growth story on your first day of work and the second growth story on your final day of work for the week.

For each of these growth stories, it is up to you, the nanny, and your charge(s) to figure out which best suits. There is no wrong answer!

On Monday, since we are introducing Children’s Mental Health Week, we will use the growth story as a way to start a conversation with our charge(s) about growth and the different challenges we may face. Again, there is no wrong way to do this. But we do know that connection with an adult (such as yourself) is a positive childhood event that will lead to an easier growth time for the child. Conversing about anything strengthens connection, and conversing about this gives you a topic for that stronger connection.

On Friday, since it is the end, from your charge(s)’s perspective of Children’s Mental Health Week, it is time to reflect on what we’ve learned about growth. Reflect on the activities that we did this week and whether or not we feel more prepared for unknown growth in the future.

Then, drop us a line! Let us know how it went. Just comment on this post (you can do so anonymously).
