COVID Vaccination for the Nanny

As some of you who already follow our Facebook page may have seen, nannies are slated to receive the vaccine in Phase 1b, Subgroup Group 3: Childcare Workers. This is where we are planned for and this is where we need to be showing up.

Explanation of government thinking and why we qualify as Subgroup 3 even if we don’t feel worthy of the qualification. It is off the record so the government worker’s identity has been anonymized.

According to Governor Cooper, we are already in Phase 1b.

According to Senator Jackson, we should expect vaccinations to start on the 24th of February.

The vaccination delivery is being done on a county-by-county basis even though as a state it was decided where nannies place into the groupings and subgroupings and even though as a state it was decided that we are in Phase 1b. To illustrate this, at the time of writing this post, Wake County has announced to its county residents that it is still in Phase 1a despite the Governor due to supply shortages. So it is all a big mess.

We here at your North Carolina Professional Association of Nannies hope to provide an informational clearing house about this vaccination extravaganza of confusion. We cannot do this alone. If you know what your county is up to, please let your local nanny community know and also please let us know so that we can add it to this post for any nannies who haven’t been connected with your local community yet. How to let us know? Leave a comment.

Here is what we know (in alphabetical order of county):

Granville County

A multi-step process which starts by filling out a survey to indicate that you are interested and to assess how you qualify. Start HERE and they’ll email you next steps. Say yes to the survey page that asks about Phase 1b and then yes again to the survey page that asks about childcare workers.

Rutherford County

Despite the timeline set by Governor Cooper, it appears this county is still in Group 2 and hasn’t expanded to Group 3. When this happens it is usually due to short supply. Put yourself on the waiting list, here.

Vance County

Wake County
